A Legacy Cast in Two Halves: Remembering Josh Maravich

The basketball world dimmed a little on Friday, January 5, 2024, with the passing of Josh Maravich, son of the legendary LSU and NBA star "Pistol" Pete Maravich. Josh died at his family home in Covington, Louisiana, at the young age of 42. The cause of death remains undisclosed.

Pete still holds the coveted title of the NCAA's all-time leading scorer in Division I men's basketball. From 2001 to 2005, Josh suited up for the LSU Tigers under coach John Brady. Primarily a reserve, his contributions were measured not in points and rebounds, but in his dedication and infectious enthusiasm.  Imagine the emotions coursing through him as he stepped onto the court named after his father – the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, a constant reminder of his family's basketball heritage.

LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward expressed the university's sorrow, stating, "We are saddened to hear of the passing of Josh Maravich. He was a part of our LSU basketball family, and we share our deepest condolences with his family and friends."
